we coffee and we think
It’s down to a spot. Have my usual iced americano and some tea. The Street Coffee yields some morning happiness.

Very nice and of course a repeat of a repeat. But I don’t just come here to have a nice iced coffee. I come here for the incipient thoughts. Then somehow share them. Over there on the blog you know. The place I find daily to interpret and wonder. Have a walk and do the away things.
What has always worked in the mornings is the break. From house and dogs and people. The puppies take work. They don’t really understand why their humans don’t spend time with them. I spend some hours daily with them. Both are loving and playful and want us to reciprocate. It’s difficult. To be honest they are a thing I did not want. This is not the first rodeo either dogs for us. Before had one dog that had to go back. I don’t think we are cut out for the thing really. I have wanted to just go for a bit. To lose the city behind state route 6 going to Phnom Penh for days. It’s not the destination. I don’t particularly like or hate the city. It’s the feeling of the going.
back before in a Time Machine
Back then with no one to consider and definitely no dogs I would decide on a day that I could not stay longer. It happened in Manila. I felt this tug. I knew I would not last. So I started looking for flights to anywhere. Kuala Lumpur came up and I could just imagine a week over Christmas there. Every mall had their Santa and long lines of kids wanting and needing. It was the lights. The feeling. I knew no one there and it worked well.
Other times I bailed to Saigon or Da Nang. I could spend a week in Da Nang and slowly feel the batteries gaining social power. I’d go back to Hanoi and my landlady would call to make sure I was okay. Then it was a meal at the local bun cha place. A coffee at the lake with Paul. Mostly time yet spent alone.
I don’t know why it is folks. As I have aged people have fallen out of the mix. I see them. Have a word or two. I feel the tank emptying. I could never be a Khmer person. They must be able to just talk. Social their media. I don’t do that any more either.
So here I am alone not lonely. Thoughts with the coffee and nice recent memory of the two cute Khmer women working here. I am very appreciative of the unique beauty Cambodian women have. This soft beauty. I forever look and that’s enough. Not ever tempted.
Now my coffee waits. It’s a cool morning and clouds have been busy gaining on the morning skies. I have miles to go. No promises to keep. I try to not do them anymore because I regret sometimes the doing. I guess I’d rather do nothing and overachieve than do something and fall short.
My life. Times. Coffee. Thoughts.
