then came embeds
Finding little 11ty plugins I wish to add. This one embeds most everything. It’s installing it using npm. Adding some stanzas to the config file and not screwing it all up and then testing it. Finally I make it all work upstream with vercel by pushing changes to GitHub. Vercel builds my site and it’s like magic. Sometimes [1].
This time I will test it out. Maybe with some YouTube I just happen to like. Some song. Let us see. Ok. Got it. All I do is copy and paste the YouTube link on a line all by itself. Done deal. So here ya go.
And that’s it. Media embeds. Footnotes took more work. But therein lies the pleasure in it all. Figuring out stuff makes getting it work so much nicer. It’s another reason I would go to pika or whatever but I would never have these things. It all would just work. I’d be happy. But I never would have understood how to make it work.
then sometimes it won’t work. I must go back and look at newbie errors in the eleventy.config.js file. Test again. I did this repeatedly with the image plugin only to find I was using curly quotes and it had to have straight ones. Yeah. Learning experience just about all the time for me. ↩︎
