MIkes Thoughts

seasons of coffee

I started this other post but pretty much gonna replace it or not write those things. Some things come in on a Friday morning and I sit at home and instead wonder why this long type C to lightning cable stopped really charging. It’s disappointing because it’s lasted a good while but it has been having little issues. Only one side will work. Sometimes iPhone won’t charge at all but still shows a trickle. So this morning on my walk to coffee I decided to replace the cable online. I bought a really nice type c to type c for my MacBook Air m1 that has been the best. So back to grab so I can be lazy later today and order. Have it delivered. Not do anything like go to a store. I’ll pay the nice delivery person some tip because I never think they make good money and they do for me from food to other stuff.

These are the compelling things this first season of coffee is dealing with. I call it seasons because I am at Summer Coffee this morning. A lovely spot to sit and enjoy some time spent engaged in little more than watching people and looking at likely charging cables.

Lately there has been the “at odds” feelings around the house. We had family visit for the holiday for weeks. I get tired after days. Then the puppies magically showed up. I was not asked even 5 minutes before if it was something I’d want. It’s not. It never was. It always feels like it’s me doing the daily work with them. I feel guilty leaving and I hate hearing them cry for attention. Not the way it’s supposed to be I thought over and again. So they left. Went back to wherever. I’m relieved. Not happy because people would believe I would just accept their things. I end up paying for things here so I feel I have some say.

That’s the morning writing. Summer coffee and cooler days. Little errors with vercel. Problems with whatever.

Next week I will arrive at spring. Spring Coffee likely. A completely different yet enjoyable and stylish coffee house. That’s another blog post away.

It’s also a walk away

The walking these mornings is so nice. Morning temperatures are around 25 Celsius so going is delightful. I’m not sure what happened to rainy season. Somehow it became back there now because have not seen rain in a few days. It’s really about time for our dry season. More tourists incoming. Places downtown busier. Shops and pubs and restaurants happy. It’s seemed though there have been more retirees coming. Cambodian immigration told my daughter here they had more people getting retirement visas and renewing so they were delayed. I always kinda flake out because it’s my passport.

The walk also lets me process life here a bit. Coffee is time to sit elsewhere. This morning visit with my friend that’s the manager here. We talk in English because her language is very good and she’s a polyglot. From Khmer to mandarin to French to English. A charming and worldly person that worked in Oman for years.

The stop is a break and a chance to retool. To feel a little reset either way a soft seat on an old butt. To not figure out any things right now. Why do we all feel pressed to be productive over have to have things that need fixing?

Dunno. And it hasn’t bothered me for a decade. Instead I want the life just how it is with my seasons of coffee. Then I want walking to back out of the little life things here that bother me. Reboot. Find my iced americano waiting and the walk just out the door and to my left.

That’s the way of it. And that also is this thing. Not finished ever but I’ll call it.
