Friday words
Today is some Friday for me. A day after some beer and almost Mexican food. I go out mostly to find a spot around but not with others. This works exceedingly well and last night I was friendly with the beer and food. Then the usual kindly tuktuk driver took me home in my happy state. I pay him more because I don’t think drivers make all that much doing their ride services. And he appreciates getting twice the going rate. For me it’s a simple thing.
Then it became morning. Friday morning and a little headache and coffee. A beautiful day today so I will go walking in a neighborhood I love. First is this slow moving coffee.

From here I see people. All kinds of people and a very cute waitress that is quite flirtatious. It is fun living here. People will say Khmer women are withdrawn and modest. I’ve seen them. They are also friendly and outgoing. It seems coffee shops have both. I much more enjoy the outgoing and friendly women. My wife probably doesn’t.
I remember drinking coffee at Starbucks way back when and they had the code on receipts good for an hour of WiFi. That had to be the stupidest thing next to paying almost $5 for a coffee then. These days a nice coffee here is about $1 to $1.25.
It feels this morning like some meandering scrawl of a blog post. I guess I have no meaning to get across. Maybe I rarely do but I also feel sometimes to wake people up. To ask why people persist in doing what they do when they hate their lives where they are. It’s not rocket science to change. Maybe Asia is not for you. Great. Go elsewhere. As Stevenson would once say about travel it’s the going part. Not the arriving. Who gives a fuck if you ever arrive?
Today with this wandering and senseless diatribe I have only a life spent right now at Ur coffee. A place I have been coming for years now. I can watch the motos and cars and people pass by. The little Khmer boy smiling shyly at me. The sense of being apart and being a part of things. Weird I always think how it works.
I don’t question it. I just do my job. My wife says it’s walking and coffee every day. I happily do both. Each one gives a thing. Perhaps more.
Now both give you this blogpost. Don’t spend it all in one place.
