Mask mandate

Well here in Vietnam people have worn face masks a long time before Covid. It’s not a political statement here. The Vietnamese government says masks are required. We wear masks. Perhaps it’s why we only have 286 active cases of Covid-19 now and why Vietnam is one of three or four countries like New Zealand Singapore and Taiwan that have controlled it. Our lives here are not normal but they are pretty good. Crowded coffee shops. Malls open. Restaurants seating inside. We don’t do lockdowns city wide and have not had one since last year at this time.

All because of face masks? Dunno. Maybe instead because Vietnam took it seriously from the start of last year or even before.

So don’t wear your mask. Make that political statement. It’s cool. Be yourself. Just not next to me.
